This month, we are thrilled to highlight the outstanding efforts of the VRA, Hawaii Animal Health Branch, which recently set a new benchmark for excellence in veterinary care. On February 5, 2026, the Hickam Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) conducted a highly successful Dental Operations Surge, delivering comprehensive dental care and surgeries to twelve privately owned animals (POAs).
This remarkable achievement was made possible by the dedication and coordination of three veterinary teams working seamlessly in tandem. The operation required meticulous planning, precision, and teamwork to ensure that each animal received the highest standard of care. From routine cleanings to complex dental surgeries, the teams demonstrated their expertise and commitment to the health and well-being of their patients.
The surge not only provided essential care to the animals but also highlighted the importance of dental health in overall well-being. Dental issues can lead to a range of health problems if left untreated, and the Hickam VTF’s proactive approach ensures that pets remain healthy and happy.
In addition to the immediate benefits for the animals treated, the Dental Operations Surge served as a valuable training opportunity for the veterinary teams. By working together in a high-paced, collaborative environment, the teams were able to refine their skills, share knowledge, and strengthen their ability to deliver exceptional care under demanding conditions.
The success of this operation reflects the VRA, Hawaii Animal Health Branch’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and service. It also underscores the vital role that veterinary professionals play in supporting the military community, ensuring that the pets of service members and their families receive the care they deserve.
As we celebrate this achievement, we extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated veterinary teams at the Hickam VTF. Their hard work, expertise, and passion for animal care are an inspiration to us all.
