Lieutenant Colonel Jamie C. Brown was born and raised in Columbus, GA. He entered service as a Veterinary Corps Officer in 2007 following graduation from the University of Georgia (UGA) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).  

LTC Brown’s career started as the Fort Bragg Veterinary Treatment Facility Officer in Charge. He was moved to be the Brigade Veterinarian, 528th Special Operations Sustainment Brigade (ABN) from 2008-2010 after 11 months on station. Following acceptance through the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program he served as Regimental Veterinarian, 75th Ranger Regiment from 2013-2016. He deployed to Afghanistan during this time supporting a Joint Special Operations Task Force. He then completed a small animal surgery residency at the UGA CVM from 2013-2016 through Long Term Health Education and Training. He attained board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2017. Following residency, he served as Chief of Surgery at the DoD’s LTC Holland Military Working Dog hospital at Lackland AFB from 2016-2019. He was assigned to 64th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Service Support) at Baumholder, Germany in 2019. He assumed command of 254th Medical Detachment (Combat Operational Stress Control) following an intra-battalion transfer in 2021.  

LTC Brown’s military education includes the AMEDD Pre-Command Course, Command and General Staff College, AMEDD Executive Skills Course, Captains Career Course, Officer Basic Leaders Course. 

LTC Brown’s military awards and decorations include Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Star), Global War on Terrorism, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Badge, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, Parachutist Badge, Expert Field Medic Badge, Ranger Tab. He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. His civilian awards include the UGA CVM Young Achiever’s Award and UGA 40 Under 40.    
 
LTC Brown is married to his wonderful wife, Brook from Hendersonville, NC. They have three children, Rowan, Vivi, and Wren.
