Colonel Brad Franklin holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Georgia Regents University, a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He earned board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Executive Advanced and is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.  He holds the 9A designator from the Army Medical Department and is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. 
 
COL Franklin’s military schooling includes the AMEDD Officer Basic Course, AMEDD Captains Career Course, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
 
COL Franklin’s most recent assignment was the Army Nurse Corps Personnel Proponent Officer at the Medical Center of Excellence, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His past assignments include  Nurse Executive, Regional Health Command Central; Troop Commander, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX; Phase II Site Director for the USUHS Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at Joint Base Lewis-Mc Chord, WA; Officer in Charge, Byrd Medical Clinic, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY; Brigade Provider, 6th Air Defense Artillery TRADOC, Fort Bliss, TX; Officer in Charge Consolidated Troop Medical Clinic, Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Brigade Nurse, 15th BSB, 1st Cavalry Division, Iraq; Clinical Nurse Officer in Charge, Allergy & Immunization Clinic, Tripler Army Medical Center, HI and other various clinical and administrative assignments.
 
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. He is authorized to wear:  the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Flight Surgeon Badge, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
 
He is married to a fellow Army Nurse Corps Officer Lieutenant Colonel Tiva Franklin for the past 23 years and has two daughters, Jade and Ella.
