About Us
The 106th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Service Support) was first activated on 1 October 1944 in New Guinea and saw action in the Philippines from 17 October 1944 to 4 July 1945. The unit was in action during the Luzon Campaign.
The 106th Medical Detachment (VSS) again saw action in the Korean Conflict from 21 March 1951 to 27 July 1953 in support of the United Nations. The unit received two commendations, one Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and eight campaigns.

- Third Korea Winter – 1 December 1952 to 30 April 1953
- Korea Summer 53 – 1 May 1952 to 27 July 1953
- Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award) – 1 January 1953 to 27 July 1954
The 106th Medical Detachment (VSS) continues its meritorious service in the Republic of Korea in support of U.S. Forces through food protection, animal medicine and zoonotic disease control, civic actions and other coordinated public health activities at both ROK government and Army levels.
