Our mission is to provide veterinary care to our military working dogs and to protect our service members, family. Members, and civilians by controlling, treating and preventing the spread of transmittable diseases. Within Oconus, military veterinary facilities are authorized to treat transmittable disease between humans and animals. We may refer your pet to a civilian veterinarian for the treatment of non-communicable conditions. Our goal is to provide quality professional veterinary care in a timely manner to all AUTHORIZED personnel and their privately owned animals.

• Health certificate is required for international travel. Supporting veterinary treatment facilities will require the following information at least one month prior to travel:
– Owner’s name, Pet name, breed, color, gender, date of birth, overseas location, contact number, microchip number, travel plans

– Rabies certificate, FAVN Blood Test results, USDA Aphis 7001, Acclimation memo, USDA signature memo
• Upon notification of an international assignment please reach out your preferred military veterinary treatment facility regarding the requirements for your specific country. Some countries require up to six months of preparatory work to grant entry for your pet.

Commonly Asked Questions:
1)Why does some your clinics not offer surgeries or dental cleanings?
The MCBH and the JBPHH clinic does not have the proper equipment or capability to perform surgeries. Additionally, we are not an emergency or 24-hour facility. We can refer your pet to our neighboring military VTF’s or an off-base veterinary facility to provide your pet with the best care possible.

2)   Why can’t you offer walk-ins or same day appointments?

Our limited services makes it difficult to offer walk-ins, which are generally an emergency or sick call. We do our best to accommodate everyone as soon as possible.

3)   If you can see records from every clinic, why can’t you see every clinic’s schedules or account history?

Some users do have access to other facilities, but VTF staff members cannot schedule appointments for other clinics. Making appointments at another facility could cause scheduling issues within that clinic.

4)   Why does it take so long to register or to make an appointment?

Until recently, we have had limited staffing. Registration, if the form is completely filled out and if records are provided, can be completed in about 1-2 days.

5) Why can’t you accept Care Credit or other credit card forms (i.e. American Express)?

Our clinic does not set the payment parameters. Currently, our guidance is to accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, check, or money order. We cannot accept cash, as we do not have a bank on the island to deposit our funds.

6)   Why do I have to take my international health certificate to the USDA? Why are your doctors not able to certify for these certificates?

Military veterinarians are able to endorse select international health certificates because of an agreement between those countries. Civilian veterinarians do not have this exception. A USDA endorsement is required for international health certificates and travel, and we do everything we can to help our clients find their local USDA office or the best method for attaining the endorsement.
