Lieutenant Colonel Jered Little was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He entered active duty in the Medical Service Corps with a ROTC commission in 2002, after earning a Bachelors of Science degree from Morehead State University. LTC Little also holds a Masters of Science degree from the University of Maryland.

His military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic Course, Principles of Preventive Medicine Course, Basic Industrial Hygiene Course, AMEDD Captain's Career Course, the Command and General Staff Officers Course at Fort Leavenworth, KS, the AMEDD Executive Skills Course, Army Pre-command Course and the AMEDD Pre-command Course.

LTC Little has served in diverse roles to include Environmental Engineering Program Manager, U.S. Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, Fort McPherson, GA; Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Environment Safety and Occupational Health, Pentagon Washington DC; Chief of Preventive Medicine, Multinational Force and Observers, Sinai, Egypt; Company Commander, 75th Area Support Medical Company, Republic of Korea; Chief of Force Health Protection, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on three different occasions from 2008 to 2011; Deputy Chief, Environmental Health Engineering, Division U.S. Public Health Command JBLM, WA; Commander, 255th Medical Detachment (Preventive Medicine), JBLM ,WA where his unit served on the one year ARNORTH Defense CBRNE Force Homeland Defense mission and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2014 and 2015. LTC Little then served as U.S. Army Human Resources Command (HRC), Medical Service Corps (MS) Branch Assignment Officer for the 72A, 72B, 72C, 72D, 73A, and 73B officer populations. Most recently, LTC Little served as HRC, MS Deputy Branch Chief, Fort Knox, KY.

LTC Little is a nationally credentialed Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian through the National Environmental Health Association.  His awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2nd OLC), the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 BS), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon (2), NATO ISAF Medal, the Multinational Forces and Observers Medal (2) the Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2 OLC), Army Superior Unit Award, the Combat Action Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Army Parachutist Badge, and the German Parachutist Badge. LTC Little is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3).

LTC Little is married to the former Katherine Houghton, a fellow Medical Service Corps Officer. They are parents to a wonderful daughter.
